His Majesty’s Naval Base HMNB Clyde
The Brief
HMNB Clyde is the main home for the Royal Navy’s submarine service. The refit involves a programme of replacement, refurbishment and new-build projects at the submarine base and a programme of works which will enable HMNB Clyde to be a single integrated operating base for the whole of the UK’s submarine fleet by 2024.
Our Expertise
Appointed Mechanical Electrical Public Health (MEPH), xburo is commissioned to deliver the proposed refurbishment of various existing buildings at HMNB Clyde. A backlog of maintenance was required as a number of buildings were in a state of disrepair and a legacy issue existed over the course of the project. xburo inspected, scoped and developed a design to meet the requirements of the portfolio. It required project governance on site and we ensured the relationship continued. A number of new instructions are in the pipeline at HMNB Clyde and at the Royal Naval Armaments Depot Coulport, RNAD Coulport.
The Challenges
Working on any Defence project brings with it unique challenges, and having completed projects for HMNB Clyde and Coulport, xburo is well aware of its obligations to support the service and ensure its own security obligations are up-to-date. On site challenges vary depending on the project with the strictest compliance obligations adhered to as the client expects.

xburo brings significant technical expertise and project governance to the most complex of issues and the simplest of projects for the clients at HMNB Clyde to deliver solutions that are commercially robust and offer value for money.
