xburo support Engineering student at Annual Celebration
xburo attended the Annual Celebration of The School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).
Known the University of the Common Good, xburo sponsored the best level 3 student Craig Minto. The BEng (Hons) Electrical Engineering recipient was one of a number of students to receive an industry prize as part of the event with the awards presented by Professor Scott McMeekin.
Donors and sponsors came from across the industry to hear from GCU’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steve Decent; Professor Carl Schaschke, Dean of the School, and guest speaker Eamonn Keane, the Global Director of Digital Forensics and Incident Response, Systal Technology Solutions.
“Cyber security and digital innovation transcends all societies and will continue to grow. It has given us chat GPT – data is the new oil,” said Eamonn Keane.
The keynote speaker urged the audience to tackle the unpredictable future and rapid growth of digital landscape as a collaborative effort as we face the changing of what this means for business and society.
Guests heard from Director of GCU Foundation, Alumni Engagement and Events, Jillian Watt, on the STEAM fund to help widen access and diversity to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths-related programmes at GCU.
xburo Founders and Directors Thomas Brady and Michael Gribben, alumni of the University, were delighted to back on campus to meet with students, lecturers and staff and to strengthen partnership working between xburo and GCU going forward.
